During tooth extraction, the patient is anesthetized and the tooth to be extracted and the tooth surrounding are anesthetized. Using forceps, the grasped tooth is moved back and forth slightly to loosen it from the jawbone and bonds that hold the tooth in place. Then the separated tooth is easily removed. Bleeding is stopped by applying pressure with special cotton cloths to the bleeding that occurs after extraction.
